God is good!
As we begin a new calendar year, we often wish one another a “happy new year”; we wish one another well and hope that this year holds good rather than hardship. However, many have been reflecting recently on the challenges they have faced this past year. While we hope for a “happy new year,” it is more important we continue to reflect on the goodness and faithfulness of God even within the challenges. Today I offer three passages for reflection (as a reminder of His goodness even within the parts of life we struggle to entrust to Him).
“My back is covered with cuts, as if a farmer had plowed long furrows. But the Lord is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly.” (Psalm 129:3–4, NLT)
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” (Lamentations 3:22–25, NLT)
“God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.” (2 Thessalonians 1:6–7, NIV)
