“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

(Revelation 22:12–13, ESV)

While we point to the death and resurrection of Christ as a hinge point of our faith and practice, all too often the Easter season sneaks up on us. Our focus becomes gathering with family. We might attend church as per normal but give little extra thought to Christ our Redeemer.

Lent is a season for exactly this. Much like Advent is a season of preparation for celebrating Christ’s birth at Christmas, Lent is the season of preparation for remembering Christ’s death and celebrating His resurrection. It is a season of reflection and fasting / of deliberately bringing our focus to our Lord and our need of Him as our Saviour. Our Mennonite Brethren Seminary seeks to serve us during these seasons of Advent and Lent, offering devotionals to guide us through them.

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on Feburary 17 and carries through to Easter Sunday (April 4). Their All Things New devotional offers a short passage and reading for each day, written by various brothers and sisters within our MB family across Canada.

This year, focused in the book of Revelation, our seminary is offering a seminar with Pastor Darrell Johnson that will begin opening up the book to us. Revelation can seem so overwhelming to understand, and these tools will not only help us grasp more of the book but also deepen our walk with Christ.
