Do I have to attend?
“And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.”
(Acts 6:2–3, ESV)
Are church business meetings really that important? Generally they are not a fun time, but they can be incredibly unifying and visionary. Our goal is to be as relational and conversational as possible around the ministries and aspects of church life at NCC. We “report” and we “examine” finances but all with a ministry mind-set - to ensure we are looking upward and outward.
Please do come tomorrow evening. Learn more about us. Recognize many of our key volunteers. Take serious the program and finance commitment it takes to keep NCC functioning and reaching out.
Both in Acts 6 and 15, the church family was called together so next steps were determined as a body / a family rather than leaders just telling everyone what was to be done. Leaders gave leadership but also included the congregation, valuing their input and giving them opportunity to participate. Our goal is the same; we do not want only a select few to determine our path but rather to journey together.
