Approaching Ash Wednesday
“And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.””
(Ezekiel 9:4, ESV)
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. It opens the season of Lent, a season in which we intentionally reflect upon not only our sin but also our salvation. While there is grieving and fasting involved, it is also a celebration of the mercy of God, the provision of a Saviour, and our salvation in Christ. This passage in Ezekiel is a picture of God’s mercy as extended to those who walk with Him.
How are we experiencing the mercy of God? How are we enjoying His presence and righteousness? In what ways are we pursuing Him by confessing that which is blocking us from Him? Will you make space to encounter God in a new or different way through Lent? It is an opportunity to enjoy who we are in Christ.
