Walking the Road of Hurt and Grief
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
(Psalm 34:18, ESV)
What is weighing heavy on you these days? Many of us have something. We particularly feel the weight of death this week, but many are also hurting within their marriages. Despite the increasing freedom to be with one another, many of us are continuing to feel isolated and alone. With the rising cost of living, with political turmoil, with various global crises, we are feeling uneasy about our futures.
My heart aches with the hurt I am observing in people’s lives. But how do we walk through it together? As a faith family, let us not ignore or downplay these real feelings people are facing. Too many of us avoid the difficult conversations so we do not need to feel or face the pain, but this only pushes others deeper into loneliness.
Prayerfully ask the Lord who to connect with. If you are one presently hurting, please feel free to come my way to talk and process life’s details, but also do the work of telling someone else about your struggle so you are not alone in it. For others, be alert to those who may be hurting and show care to them in some way meaningful to them.
May we know the nearness and saving of the Lord!
