Making Our Marriages Stronger
“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.”
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her …”
(Ephesians 5:25, ESV)
Marriage between one man and one woman was created by God for our good - to reflect His relationship with us. He loves us so deeply and longs to live in a personal and meaningful relationship with us. This is what He has established for marriage as well; we are to see the depth of His love for us and offer that same love to our spouse.
For some of us, this is an easy truth to accept as we have enjoyed our marriage and remain happy to be in it. However, for others of us, we are so frustrated and hurt within our marriages we are considering leaving our spouse.
What can we do to help our marriage be as fulfilling as possible? How do we identify the thing we do and say and think that actually hurt our marriage? Are we working to admit our own weaknesses / are we taking deliberate steps to express value and love to our spouse? Are we owning up to our part or merely pointing the finger at our spouse?
NCC is offering the Love & Respect marriage enrichment course. It is not the answer to all marriage challenges, but it is a tool to help us identify some of the negative cycles we get into as couples and how we can build positive patterns into our marriages. Based upon the principles of Ephesians 5, the course teaches how a husband can effectively love his wife (which is what she needs) and how a wife can effectively respect her husband (which is what he needs).
If you are married, please consider joining us. See it as a learning experience. Whether you are married a short time or long time, whether your marriage is joy-filled or struggling, this course is for you.
Love & Respect begins Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 7pm (finishing between 8:30 and 9pm). It goes every Wednesday until February 19, but we will also meet all day Saturday, February 8 (9am-4pm). Cost is $20 (which covers the workbook and other materials). Please register through the office (250 567 4960 or office@nechakocommunitychurch.com).
