Be Encouraged, Parents!
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
(Deuteronomy 6:6–7, NIV)
We had 32 kids in Sunday School this past Sunday (preschool to grade 6)! Wow! We felt full. How awesome it is to have so many kids and families!
But, parenting is tough. In thinking about the many who have battled sickness these last months, remembering how tiring parenting is, when considering all the societal pressures faced, and when considering all the other pressures of life our parents face, I want to encourage our parents!
We have spent much time to encourage and build up our marriages, but we also want / need to bring encouragement to our parents - particularly our single parents. Balancing work, relationships, and our children’s needs seems overwhelming and even impossible sometimes. But, the Lord enables us in each situation and stage of life we encounter.
Take time to affirm the young parents of our congregation. Is there a way you can serve or help them in some way? Take time to appreciate the generations who have gone before us and those after us (Proverbs 17.6). No matter what stage you are at, place high value on your children and your children’s children. Bring encouragement to their lives. Build them up. Love and strengthen them.
