Blessed By Church Partners

For they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings.

(Romans 15:27, ESV)

It was a blessing to have teams from both MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) and CBC (Columbia Bible College) with us at NCC yesterday. We have great ministry partners within our Mennonite Brethren family!

Both teams came to serve us, and yet Paul proposes this need to serve both ways. While the Gentile believers were now experiencing the blessing of the salvation which came through the Jewish people, now it was the Jewish people who suffered and needed assistance. Paul was coordinating churches to support both spiritually and financially.

How can we do this? Who is in need? What ways has God blessed us and given us the ability to serve others? Are there ways others are serving us, meeting our needs that we are unable to meet?

Our challenge Sunday morning was to recognize our neighbours and to reach out in service. These neighbours may be the people who live beside us, but they may also be the people we cross paths with on the street or in our weekly business. Maybe you felt touched to serve our neighbour in Kenya through supporting these sustainable development efforts. Maybe the neighbour you are being called to serve is studying and at a place of personal growth in their walk with God.

What is God calling you to? In what way will you serve someone today? Are you listening to the Spirit of God, allowing Him to lead you into these opportunities?
