Finding Ways to Connect

… let us … not neglect to meet together … encouraging one another …

(Hebrews 10:24–25, ESV)

There are great challenges with social-distancing and self-quarantining. It is important within these we do not isolate ourselves socially from others. We may not be able to physically be together, but how can we stay in touch? How can we continue to reach out to others?

Here are some thoughts I have had and want to encourage you to consider:

  • Let’s each commit to check in with one or two people / families each day. Grab your church directory, find yourself, and begin with connecting with those immediately following you … and then continue working through the directory. This will help us as a church family to help and encourage one another … and we may even connect with someone new to us!

  • Pick up the phone. This may seem “old school” to some, but it is important we find more personal ways to connect; rather than only texting, emailing, and messaging, use the phone to talk and listen.

  • Beyond the phone, we now have video calling options. I remember watching the Jetson’s cartoon as a kid and thought video phones took pretty wild imagination to come up with … but now it truly is an option. FaceTime, Skype, Facebook, and many more platforms make this easily available to us.

As a church, we are making available a platform called Zoom. You can see by the picture above how the Elders used it for their meeting last week. There is a small group giving it a go tomorrow evening. If you want to get your Ministry Team together for a meeting or want to gather as a small group / prayer group, contact the church office and we can help you set it up. (Zoom is free to sign up and available for one on one video chatting.)

With our services online, we are not together physically but are in spirit as we together celebrate and embrace the Lord’s Day. We also invite you to join us for a mid-week NCC Prayer Meeting this Thursday at 7pm; it will happen online over Zoom (join us by clicking this link about 5-10 minutes before 7pm).

Let us be creative with the options we have to remain socially and relationally connected!
